Oak Grove 70 Listed as Coolest Truck Stop

Oak Grove 70, the World’s Largest Truckstop, located in Walcott, Iowa, was recently listed by Truckdriving Biz and one of the coolest truck stops.

“This is a neat honor; especially in the year of our 50th Anniversary”, says Delia Moon Meier, owner and daughter of founder Bill Moon. “We strive to make sure people’s visits here are memorable.”

Whether it is taking a selfie by the World’s Largest Truckstop sign or checking out one of the three semi-trucks located in the 30,000 square foot Super Truck Showroom, Oak Grove 70 offers many unique and “cool” things to see and do. Professional drivers and travelers can enjoy a meal at one of the stop’s eight restaurant offerings or browse for gifts, do laundry, watch a movie, visit the dentist or chiropractor, and you can even pamper your pooch at the Dogomat Pet Wash.

Oak Grove 70 opened its doors on June 4, 1964 and hasn’t been closed since.  Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year for over 50 years. “People are traveling at all times of the day and night, so we need to be open to serve them,” says Meier.  “We calculated that being open 50 years equates to 18,250 days, 438,000 hours, or 26,280,000 minutes.  When you think about it that way, it’s truly an amazing feat!”

A book celebrating Iowa 80’s 50 years in business was published this past spring.  For more information about Iowa 80, visit www.iowa80truckstop.com or find Iowa 80 on Facebook at www.facebook.com/iowa80WLT.
